The Carolina Cyclers, formed in 1964, is the premier cycling club in the Midlands of South Carolina. Centrally located in Columbia, we offer a variety of cycling-related activities. We are dedicated to the promotion of cycling and sponsoring cycling-related activities for the enjoyment of our members and guests.
Our main activities are the weekend and weekday evening rides sponsored by the club. There are rides Saturday and Sunday geared for cyclists of all experience levels, from novices to aspiring or practicing racers. There are also evening rides for those who like to take advantage of the longer daylight hours of the summer season.
Club Rides: We have beginner rides from 10 miles all the way up to the most challenging 200+ mile rides. Check out the full listing of this month's rides and activities. The club also sponsors the Carolina Cyclers Fall Century Assault on Little Mountain in September.
Events and Meetings: Not interested in riding today? Well, show up for one of the many Carolina Cyclers non-riding events. These range from our monthly club meeting (on the fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 PM, Nicks House of Pizza, 1087 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC ) to cook-outs, parties, and hikes.
Educational Activities: The Carolina Cyclers is dedicated to bicycling safety education. We often sponsor Bike Rodeos and other educational events during the year.
Overnight and Weekend Events: We don't just cycle in the immediate area. Occasionally we sponsor an out of town or weekend event. One tradition is the ride to Charleston and back. Several club members also participate in the many organized cycling rallies in the area such as the popular Assault on Mt. Mitchell and Bridge to Bridge events. We also organize camping/biking trips throughout the year.
Pedal Clips is the monthly newsletter of the Carolina Cyclers. Each month there are exciting and timely articles and stories of interest to South Carolina Midlands cyclists. Join the club and receive our monthly electronic newsletter. Here we will also post a copy of back issues:
Carolina Cyclers rides are open to any rider, even if you are not a member. You should be able to ride the distance and terrain, and to handle minor problems such as a flat tire. You should carry a spare tube and a pump.
